Oakland University IHS/OSH Majors Eligible for GSP Designation (Posted August 2007)

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) established the Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) designation and pathway to becoming a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) in early 2006.  When first implementing the GSP, the BCSP limited participation to June 2006 graduates of ABET accredited safety-related program and those graduating after that time.  Because the GSP launch went smoothly, the BCSP approved allowing certain previous graduates of ABET accredited programs to seek the GSP status with BCSP through a one-time, retroactivity period ending December 31, 2007.

This retroactive period for GSP status means that any Oakland University IHS/OSH major who graduated after October 1, 2003 is eligible for the GSP designation.  For more details and application procedure, please see the BCSP website at www.bcsp.org.
